I just went through our personal collection of baby formula and lots of them have added sugar. Specifically, all of the vegan or "gentle on the stomach" formulas have added sugar as a replacement for lactose, which is the type of sugar found in milk.
In other parts of the world without established dairy industries (because most of the world is lactose-intolerant) it would make sense to have to find a different sweetener.

Someone here is being intentionally dense. Mother's milk is naturally sweet - nearly all calories come from simple carbohydrates. All formula is naturally sweet. The only thing different is the form the sweetener takes.
