They need to make sure not to give it terminal access. It might delete a DB or something from prod [1].

It took a lot of effort to write this with a straight face. Ultimately, I failed.

While this is indeed a very bad incident, this is also 6 years old at this point.

Assuming that nothing has changed or was learnt since that incident is a pretty uncharitable reading.


Gitlab is not a charity.

They need to earn their trust like everyone else.

Losing data is a big failure. I can see why folks would remember it.


I merely made a joke, I did not imply that "nothing has changed" and reading it as such is rather uncharitable.
