* mute colors with custom "theme";
* turn off emoji display (falls back to :foo: :bar:);

* collapse documents by default (really helps with big animated gifs).
But I still am trying to cope with some of the problems mentioned in the article and sometimes I have this feeling that I'm part of the problem (expecting fast replies, whining at times, not being constructive enough etc).
