Are they not still associated with an alleged rapist by hosting and monetising his content, but not sharing the profits with the content creator? They should just give him notice to close his account if that is the case and close his account.

By demonetizing him, they’ve “done something” and if there is a further outcry they can take more drastic steps. It’s like the very first West Wing episode “a proportional response”.

They just want to be seen as “doing something” and if they do it first they seem cooler than other platforms. Didnt deplatform him, just demonetized. They have done this to a lot of other non-mainstream political voices.

There are no international terminals in the US so you will need to enter the US if flying via the US.

Has anyone noticed that NameCheap's login page makes the newsletter field get filled in when you use a password manager to autofill the login page?

Would this kind of attitude by an organisation incentivise malicious/nefarious activities? Is it because if actual funds are stolen they'd be covered by insurance and could leverage law enforcement, but open security research may just cause extra internal costs?

Samsung SDS made $635 million in profit in 2019 which I think was higher than ARM? As far as I'm aware the 'Samsung Group' doesn't actually have all the companies under that so it's difficult to see what the overall revenue/profit is of the entire 'group'. It has quite a few other companies, like heavy industries, insurance, asset management, etc and I think they all have thousands of employees and are very large companies in their industries so I'd be surprised that when combined the other companies weren't significant. Did you have any data on this?

what about the exception for prison labor which many consider to be 'modern slavery'?

Think it depends how prices are increased. When Keen.io went from a couple hundred dollars to a couple hundred THOUSAND dollars per month we had to cancel, but with services going up <50% after years of usage, it has often seemed reasonable.

What if the price went up by 25% a week after you initially purchased a subscription (even if it has been years since the last time the price changed)? You could do something like only change the price for customers that have been customers for a long time. But that gets complicated, and then you are punishing your best customers for their loyalty.

Patient 31 was very symptomatic and was the cause of first large outbreak

A physician from Korea recently did an AMA on Reddit and said: 'It is hard for anyone to predict what will happen in the future in this volatile situation. However, South Korean experts think that if the situation doesn't get better within the month, it will last up to 6 months. If the situation exacerbates within 6 months, it's apparent that this will become a much more difficult scenario than previously imagined. There would be a high chance of economic repercussions of this outbreak. Moreover, the resources of medical personnel may be entirely exhausted in this situation, which would lead to more deaths. In South Korea alone, 300,000 deaths would be a fair prediction from such a scenario.'[0]

Seems too early to conclude this has been contained yet.

honest question: why do we keep looking to physicians for guidance? They are highly trained in case by case treatment but not epidemiology. They are not taught to make population wide predictions about the future, they just diagnose and treat. They have access to some anecdata and that's about it. Professors, epidemiologists, and medical researchers have a lot more training and practice in the arena we care about.

In general they have some idea what they are on about re diseases. Also they tend to be fairly down to earth in that they deal with patients directly rather than abstractions.

"it's hard to predict" and "if this then that" doesn't really help and just adds to peoples anxiety and paranoia.
