Always good to see SotN mentioned (and nice to see a familiar handle).
There are so many cool things that have been built for this decomp, probably my favorite being the dups tool (tools/dups) for finding duplicate or near duplicate code.
> It may be also worth trying a loop of "fix until it matches binary" for separate files... But I haven't seen anyone actually write it up.
I might be misunderstanding what you mean, but there is decomp-permuter which I think does just this. Rewrites the code in various heuristics and subtle ways to attempt to find a match at function level.
I am not a coffee hipster (as will probably become evident by my next statement) but I do like good cafe coffee here in Melbourne and I completely agree. I don’t make it my daily driver, but 7/11 and even McCafe coffee is quite decent here IMO
I agree completely, most iced coffee here from supermarkets is hyper sweetened rubbish that barely tastes like coffee at all. You have to go for “double” or “triple” espresso options to get a proper taste of coffee, otherwise you’re just drinking sweet milk (and not even in the guilty pleasure Vietnamese iced coffee way)
As previously mentioned Boss does do a decent black iced coffee though, and there are a few niche brands around putting out less sweet varieties
Mostly word of mouth or podcasts.
For podcasts I recommend Into The Aether in particular as they only chat about games they like and don’t bother with stuff they don’t like. And also talk about older games they like that you may have missed. In general it’s a chill informative listen
Was also listening to Electronic Wireless Show (RIP) and also listen to Besties which is good but probably more of an entertainment show than a prime way to discover games, though I still do every now and then.
I think this probably gets a lot worse before it gets better. I'm not in the space myself but am close with a number of primary/elementary educators and from my perspective it appears as though in Western/developed countries at least there has been a massive shift away from teaching rejection and "life is unfair" philosophy and moving towards "everyone's a winner" type stuff. And education has a perverse incentive to just promote kids that are floundering instead of failing/holding them back and upsetting parents / making more work for the already underpaid and overworked teachers.
We're only just recently trying to course correct for this by teaching resilience training, because of course these kids will get to the "real world" of tertiary education / careers and just completely fall apart the first time things don't work out exactly as they planned.
I would be curious to see the age ranges of self reported incels and whether this correlates to a modern generation raised like this.
One question - is pagination broken or not implemented? eg. searching for a band with a large discography like Built to Spill / Okkervil River only returns a small selection of tabs. It actually doesn't seem to be the first page even, more of a random selection.
I feel like given the comment from Ken, it is not unreasonable to assume the game shipped like he said.
He did specifically say "We had to ship ASAP" which implies that it was done to get the game out the door and indeed shipping copies would have the message.
Nice work, I was able to extract out a feed URL from a Listnr exclusive podcast and can now add it to my normal podcast app without needing to use their stupid propriatary one. Win for openness!
