StrongDM | [Staff, Senior, Junior] AI Agent Engineer | San Francisco Bay Area (Palo Alto) | Full-Time | ONSITE | SW3.0

StrongDM applies deep tech to hard problems for demanding cybersecurity customers. Our embrace of large language models continues that tradition, achieving useful and reliable outputs from ambiguous and non-deterministic inputs.

Join me (Justin, co-founder & CTO) and our AI Agent team to help our global customers secure their most critical systems.

Ideally: if you've already decided you need to be working on the frontier of this technology wave & you're open to doing so in person at a physical whiteboard, e-mail me a few words to that effect (justin@strongdm.com).

Optionally: read more at http://strongdm.com/careers

Finally: on a personal note - a mix of awe, ambition, anxiety, and confusion are inevitable at this moment. Our small team has found a flow, and we're successfully metabolizing the daily changes in the gradient. Come on a run with us; see what we see.

Hi Justin,

My name is Jothi Mani Thondiraj, and I am a recent M.S. graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder. I am actively seeking opportunities in AI/ML, software engineering where I can apply my expertise in machine learning, deep learning, Generative AI, model optimization, and data analysis. I am interested in the AI Agent Engineer role at strongdm, and I wanted to reach out to you regarding that. Here is my background:

During my graduate studies, I worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at CU Boulder, where I developed a deep learning-based uncertainty quantification model for NASA's high-dimensional modeling tasks. This involved optimizing predictive models using PyTorch, implementing custom neural network architectures, and streamlining data pipelines to improve computational efficiency. These efforts led to a 40% reduction in data processing time and contributed to $150,000 in annual cost savings for NASA's predictive modeling workflows. I regularly presented findings to stakeholders, enhancing the interpretability and impact of AI-driven decision-making.

Currently, I am working as an AI Engineer at Nureal.ai, where I am designing a mobile application for indoor navigation using Augmented Reality (AR). I also mainly contribute to AI features such as voice recognition, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and agent development. I developed a RAG chatbot for answering library user queries based on the data from the PostgreSQL database and implemented the backend using FastAPI for prototyping. I am developing an agent framework in LangGraph for building tools for reserving books, answering questions, and monitoring the workflow in Langfuse. Initially, I was using n8n for orchestrating the agent tools, but then I moved to LangGraph as it is more suitable for production.

Moreover, I have attended Vizuara AI Agents Bootcamp, where I learned A-Z about the AI agent frameworks from the basics. Particularly, I learned about including the ReAct framework, and tools such as smolagents, langgraph, crewAI, Langsmith, LlamaIndex, Langfuse, and ArizeAI. I built a couple of projects that include creating a travel itinerary plan in Langflow, sending reply emails to the sender if the email received is not spam, and so on.

In addition to my professional and academic background, I am committed to continuous learning and growth. Through platforms like SuperDataScience, I stay current with the latest in ML and AI. Some of my recent projects include:

- Fine-tuning BERT for detecting AI-generated text. - Developing and deploying a Gradio-based LLM chatbot on Hugging Face to generate personalized recipes and images using Falcon-7B, GPT-4, DALL·E, and Stable Diffusion. - Building scalable end-to-end ML pipelines for YouTube sentiment analysis, integrating Apache Airflow for ETL process, Hugging Face models, and Streamlit for real-time analytics. - Credit card fraud detection using machine learning

I hold two certifications: Microsoft Azure Data Scientist Associate certification, Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate.

I am passionate about using AI, data science, and software engineering to solve real-world, high-impact challenges, and I believe strongdm would be an excellent place to contribute and continue growing professionally. If possible, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you for 15–20 minutes about the job opportunity.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I'm looking forward to talking with you.

very prompt burrito delivery?

If by burrito you mean shaped charge high explosives with lethal shrapnel, triggered by facial recognition, delivered by drones the size of house sparrows at the speed of sound, then yes, burrito delivery.

Christ, you sound like my nutritionist.

Go, Forth and multiply matrices.

In china probably very soon. In the US? Regulation has already killed that.

Burak - one wish I've had recently is for a "py data ecosystem compiler", specifically one which allows me to express structures and transformations in dbt and Ibis, but not rely on Python at runtime. [Go|Rust]+[DuckDB|chDB|DataFusion] for the runtime. Bruin seems very close to the mark! Following.

hey, thanks for the shoutout!

I love the idea, effectively allowing going towards a direction where the right platform for the right job is used, and it is very much in line with where we are taking things towards. Another interesting project in that spirit is sqlframe: https://github.com/eakmanrq/sqlframe

Sonnet is great, but also suggest exploiting custom instructions in the ChatGPT UI. Here's a snippet from mine:

Extremely concise, formal. As short as possible. Assume I am an industry expert in any topic we discuss. Answer assuming I have the highest level of intellect possible, and do not require explication regardless of the sophistication of the topic. In cases where one approach among many is superior, offer an opinionated argument in favor of that approach.

I also finished Death's End this morning and have a similar afterglow re: scale (energy, space, time)!
