The argument isnt to open the store but to open the phone. You would still be able to only install apps from the store if you so choose. Others would be able to install any app theyd like. Also, app makers that could not afford to go through Apples vetting or developers who have written apps that Apple later decides is good enough to clone - so removes the non Apple version from the store for reasons, would no longer be shutdown completely.
Thats ok, anyone who has been a bench tech, field tech, especially in the later 90s to early 2000s, has a similar story to this. Ive had people manage to force CDs between two drive bays and wonder why their CD wasnt being detected. Have had people insert credit cards in floppy drives, etc..
[Edit] there used to be a website, similar to bash.org, that people would submit stories like this all the time of stupid shit they were running into as a tech. Dont recall what it was. There was also and admin site, they may have been the same.
One of the older ones was the daily wtf, still around but not nearly as good as it used to be. There's a subreddit /r/talesfromtechsupport that has become my go-to for that now.
And Im sure it wont be explicitly stated, but simply rolled up under some paragraph as a blanket statement, something to the effect of:
"We track all of your activities and provide third parties the ability to do so as well - to provide a better user experience - and we may or may not sell or distribute the collected data at our own discretion and continued use of this site grants us permission in perpetuity. Further, should you decide to sue us, you agree to binding arbitration at a venue chosen by us, conducted by an arbiter of our choosing, in which case you promise to lose regardless of outcome. If you disagree, please leave the site now but just know, by being here and reading this, you have already granted us this power and we've mostly already collected what we needed from you. Thank you. Stop wasting our bandwidth now. Fuck off!"
I'll tell you right now, as a person that got sucked in by the look and feel of the packaging at a time I was looking to replace my razor, it is by far the worst most cumbersome razor I've ever owned. The blades rust almost immediately. From top of blade head to neck is just so long (5 blades plus lots of space) and the weird rubberized flex of the head makes following contours of face virtually impossible. Leaves patches of hair. The razor was probably designed by a woman for legs or an early 20s geek that hasn't sprouted facial hair yet. Either way, you'd be better off buying a razor from a dollar store.
Thank you. Email alerts is actually on my near future road map, near future being in the next week or two. I went back and forth on whether or not to charge right away. I ended up building a coupon manager and I just give out coupon codes for deep discounts. For instance right now I have coupon codes on various social media platforms for 25% off I think. I also will give out 75 to 100% off to registered charities and orgs supporting veterans. Im hoping that will be sufficient, but who knows.
[Edit] My rationale for the coupons idea was... a) it would be another metric for tracking sales, b) I could run promotions, c) I could trade discounts for mentions, back links, blog posts, etc.. . I thought this better than just letting everyone post for free.
Is there a reason you wouldn't just use IntelliJ and install the plugins you need? I used to use separate IDEs pycharm and phpstorm, but then I needed IntelliJ for some Java dev and realized I could just install PHP and Python plugins instead and from then on only needed one IDE (IntelliJ Ultimate). I havent been able to do this with C#, .Net but for everything else it seems to work.
From what I understand, a foreign company purchasing a U.S. company is subject to some pretty intense review (CFIUS). By moving HQ to the U.S. they avoid that review process. It was planned before Trump but Im sure youre right and somehow Trump will help push this right through.
