My thoughts exactly lol

This sounds like something you'd run across in the Zone.

The brain scorcher

fancy a picnic?

Another tally in the “It was DNS” box

2035 is in 11 years.

Yeah, but the trust fund's running out doesn't mean there are no benefits anymore. It just means the only funds to pay them come from current payroll taxes. The trust fund can no longer make up the shortfall.

SS may very well survive at reduced benefits a lot longer than 2035. Whether someone should give up hope of any benefits in 40 years is a fair question.

Somethings got to give if SS dries up, what that is I do not know. I have hopes for a more robust, more ahem socialized healthcare system, but that doesn't seem likely with current trends

As long as there are workers, it doesn't dry up entirely. I guess the problem then becomes the fact that U.S. fertility has already fallen below the replacement rate.

Boiler Up

It's literally illegal to do D2C sales of cars in a lot the USA.

I think it was to mirror Marvel's intro showing the history of the brand.

This was my more generous, less cynical take as well. Disney has been approaching their 100 year anniversary (not passed), and Steamboat Willie was the first animated short under the banner of Walt Disney Animation Studios. It makes sense to honor one's first at one's hundredth.

Another nuclear plant simulator, haven't played too much but diving into later today with a friend.

Wow, they got their own steam-themed domain name and everything!

This one is super fun.

Reddit did

https://heroicgameslauncher.com/

This is a Linux launcher for Epic (and others). It’s very popular with the SteamDeck community.

Until Epic changes something and breaks it for the sake of anti-piracy, or something. I'd rather support the company that is wholeheartedly supporting Linux than the one that deprecates Linux support after buying games like Rocket League

Yeah, pretty much this. Valve is putting in the work to make Linux gaming actually viable, so I'll send them my business. If Epic wants to catch up, more power to them. Until their launcher at a minimum actually works on Linux, I won't be sending them any money. As I said, I'll just wait for the games to come to Steam or, worst case, never buy them if they're permanently exclusive. I have plenty of backlog!

That only mitigates the problem of the official launcher not existing for Linux. Games are still installed with Proton.

For example, I was trying to install Into The Breach, which is available on both Steam and Epic. Steam has builds for all platforms, while Epic only has the Windows build. If I install the game using Heroic, it installs it with Proton, resulting in worse battery life and performance compared to the native build. Which is what you want to avoid with handhelds like the Steam Deck.
